Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen xbox Game Reviews

Review 1

People generally expect disappointment from movie games, and usually rightly so. But seriously - Revenge Of The Fallen is a BRILLIANT game. Replacing the free-roaming style of the first game, this is split into different missions. This never feels restrictive - you unlock new missions as you progress, and are free to choose between them at will (as well as choosing between Autobot and Decepticon storylines - each with different missions). You can also play as different Transformers in each mission (although you have to unlock this), adding different elements of driving or flight. Online multiplayer has also been added. While obviously not as busy as the likes of Call of Duty (COD) and GOW, there are a few different modes to play, and it's great fun. The control scheme is different too. It might take a bit of getting used to, but once you've nailed it, you should LOVE it. Transforming is a lot more fun and can be done midair or in the middle of certain attacks. The presentation is great - good graphics and nice voiceovers. There are a lot of unlockables too, like art galleries, new characters/skins for multiplayer and even full episodes of the original series to watch. It's VERY different to the game of the first movie. Don't be put off by any disappointment from #1 - this is probably one of the best games you'll play this year, and one of the best movie games ever!

Review 2

I bought this game expecting it to be a stressful movie cash in like the last transformers game. I was pleasently surprised and if you (like me) love the Transformers then you should be too. Obviously the game takes place around the same time as the rather epic movie sequel, which means Sam and his lady make appearences in the game. Now, here's the good part... they have no real involvement with the actual gameplay. You have to transport them to a specific point every now n again but THATS IT. So it's all Robots and Big Explosions!!! You get the chance to play bots like Megatron, Starscream, Bumblebee, Iron Hide and of course Optimus Prime. You also get a couple of suprises like Breakaway and Long Haul. Each of these characters have a different style of combat, their weapons are different and depends on vehicle mode (Some get to hover in the air - VERY COOL). Some are Jet planes, Helicopters, Trucks, Sports cars and even the Cybertronian Tank (Also very cool!). The game play works like this... you take control of a transformer (whether it be autobot or decepticreeps!), learn the controls and blow up alot of opposing machines and everything around it. If you're like me and love a good "blow everything up" game then this is where it's at. There's really not much else to it. The controls can be abit funny to get the hang of, though personally I found them quite easy to master but some other people have struggled with it. Graphically you could ask for more but to be perfectly honest they look good, so do the explosions and gun fire. The transformations look very cool too. They're about as close to the movie as you could most likely get. Overall this game is great for transformer fans and pyromaniacs. It isn't perfect but it's miles better then the last transformers game.
